What does the Bible say about loneliness?

The Bible takes loneliness seriously rather than dismissing it. Its answer is two-fold. First, you are never actually alone, because God promises His presence does not leave you. Second, you were made for real human connection, and God is the one who draws people toward each other. So Scripture meets loneliness with both a present God tonight and a promise of community ahead.

What does the Bible say about feeling lonely?
The Bible never treats loneliness as something to be ashamed of. It promises that God is always present and that He actively works to set the lonely into community. You are addressed, not overlooked.
Why do I feel alone even when I’m surrounded by people?
Because being around people is not the same as being known by them. This kind of loneliness comes from a lack of real, honest connection, not a lack of company. It points to a built-in need for depth that God designed in you.
Does God care that I’m lonely?
Yes. Scripture shows God paying close attention to the isolated and moving to bring them in. Your loneliness is not invisible to Him.
Is it wrong to feel lonely if I have God?
